Hi Doug. A note of thanks. The front concrete steps on our home were deteriorating and Doug the Carpenter installed a composite deck covering the original steps. It turned out absolutely fantastic. Doug did a great job from help in designing, working straight through our job without juggling other jobs at the same time, site cleaning, and excellent professional quality work. Doug is a journeyman craftsman and it shows in all of our experiences with him. Thanks Doug!Jim and Eloise
We have had our beautiful new deck completed by “Doug the Carpenter” in June / 2020. We could not be more pleased. It is well-constructed in every way. Square, sound, level, and really very nice to look at. The foundation work, which is critical, is exceptional. Doug’s finishing work is outstanding, too. Plus, it was done exactly as we had requested. Everyone who has seen it is so impressed.Doug and his assistant, Paul, were always on time, worked hard, and each day when they left, the yard was cleaned and all tools, etc. were put away.We paid exactly what was quoted by Doug before the construction began. We think that is an important aspect of hiring someone to work at your home. This is a five-star little company. We highly recommend Doug to you.Bill and Judy KSpruce Grove, Alberta
Wow, what a transformation, this is exactly what we wanted. We started out with an unfinished basement. Thanks to Doug the carpenter we were able to get our project underway. Living on a farm we had access to some great building materials. We wanted a very rustic feel in our basement. With the help of Doug we were able to accomplish our dream. We used old barn boards, replaced our telepost with barn timbers, an old house had some original hardwood floors and that was placed in front of the bar. Ceiling was rough boards with black tar paper. Old egg crates were used as wine holders. Exterior cupboards where given that old feel with barn board on the sides. We get so many complements on our basement. We had a vision and Doug the Carpenter made it possible. Thanks from the W Family
After hiring for the first time and having Doug the Carpenter build us a deck at our home I feel obligated to write this letter of reference due to the fantastic workmanship performed from start to finish by this very well qualified journeyman carpenter.Having taught at NAIT for over 20 years in the trades area I must confess it is nice to see a trades person apple his trade in such a professional manner with the greatest of pride, detail and care that I have not seen for a long time.Doug has renewed my faith in workmanship by going way over and above the norm. I was pleasantly surprised and overwhelmed with the true care and concern he took with every task performed from beginning to end of this project. To watch him complete each task along the way was absolutely amazing right down to the minutest of detail. As I watched him apply his trade I was completely in AUH and impressed to see someone in this day and age complete work in such detail. Nothing but perfection seems to be his motto.Everything he claimed he would do his did. This man’s word can be trusted which is something that is nice to see in today’s work environment..Hiring someone you have never met before is always a concern but after our first meeting I felt comfortable and was willing to hire him simply based on his demeanor. My gut feeling has been right and my expectations were met completely.I am a perfectionist as anyone that knows me will attest to and to satisfy me takes a lot but Doug has renewed my faith in the highest level of workmanship that I have not seen in a long time.To watch him apply his trade was an experience that I certainly believe must be acknowledged, recognized and respected.I do not make a point of writing letters of reference but when you see someone so unique and qualified I would be the first to let everyone who is considering hiring him not be concerned. This man is the complete package and does “all” carpentry work from framing to finishing and all things in between.By hiring Doug you will be getting the best of the best. Thanks Doug.DENNIS AND SHIRLEY K.SPRUCE GROVE, AB.
When we first met Doug at the Edmonton Home and Garden Show we knew that we were speaking with a gentleman who knew what he was talking about and that he took great pride in his work. We hired him to build our retaining wall and deck and we're glad that we did. He has every right to be proud of his work because it is impeccable. You don't see that kind of integrity and attention to detail very much in this day and age. We unfortunately live in a throw away world and a lot of the people out there building are only interested in their paycheques, not their workmanship. We loved the work Doug did so much that we hired him again to build our fence for us and we are equally as happy. There are a lot of people out there that might do it cheaper in the beginning but in the end, when it all starts to fall apart, and it will, then you will be paying twice as much as you would have in the beginning. We know that we will be enjoying our yard for many years to come because Doug did his job right the first time. With Great Thanks and Gratitude,Wes and Carmen B
